The Department of Umbrology at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) is a collective for the study of and physical, social and cultural intervention in urban life in the shadows. They have organised various activities and workshops, dedicating themselves to the ethnographic study of the complex relationships between the sun and buildings, the street and trees, as well as the role that different types of shadows can have on different people or groups and the ways of surviving the scorching heat.
