The Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) is the only public centre in Catalonia that awards a degree in higher artistic studies in Music and masters in artistic studies, enshrined in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

The School was founded in 2000 as part of a resolution issued by the Catalan Government and it opened in September 2001. There are currently more than 900 students enrolled on its different undergraduate, master's, postgraduate and other courses.
