Jorge Ribalta’s work can be placed within the tradition of the reinvented documentary, that which dismantles and leaves the modern myth of photography as a transparent medium and a universal language whilst making evident its insertion into power relations. His body of work aims to produce a representation of labour in the field where he operates, namely the field of cultural institutions. This implies a self-critical process of observation and distortion, a way to understand that the cultural field is not something given but the product of a collective effort, as something that we produce every day and where we are all involved through our own activity, our work. His work as an artist, not only feeds itself from his work as a researcher, but it has internalized some of the of the mechanisms involved in research and  artistic methods.
