Evaluation of work carried out in the summer

The summer months saw 101 different maintenance and safety tasks carried out, 51 of them to improve urban layout, mobility, rail infrastructures, urban furniture and services, the other 50 being repaving and resurfacing works. As of 22 September, 92% of tasks had been completed.

Tasks carried out in public spaces in the summer allow for more complex work to be done. Summer is the most convenient time as the city is not so busy as usual.

One of the main jobs completed was the construction of the structure which will allow the Ronda de Dalt ring road to be covered between the Mercat de la Vall d’Hebron and the Institut Vall d’Hebron, as well as the resurfacing of over 200,000 square metres in streets including Gran Via, C/ Balmes and Pg. Sant Joan. At the same time, benches, chairs, bollards and railings have been renewed and repairs have been carried out in children’s play areas.

Sustainable mobility has also been given an important boost with new bike lanes being built and others relocated onto road surfaces. New sections of bus lanes have also been created in preparation for stage five of the new bus network, to be rolled out in November.

“Our thanks go to city residents for their patience and willingness to help see that work is carried out correctly. These tasks mean the city is in the best shape possible ready for the year to come”, noted the Deputy Mayor for Ecology, Urban Planning and Mobility, Janet Sanz.
