31st Manga Barcelona presents a Gaudí-inspired poster and announces high-profile guests
After celebrating 30 years of success, Manga Barcelona is entering a new phase with more momentum than ever. The 31st edition, taking place from 5 to 8 December at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, has already unveiled its official poster and some of the big names on this year’s programme.
Japanese author Kamome Shirahama, creator of Atelier of Witch Hat, has designed a stunning poster inspired by Modernisme and the works of Gaudí. It features Coco, the main character of her manga, alongside Onachan, the event’s mascot.
Among the first confirmed guests are Gou Tanabe, known for his manga adaptations of Lovecraft; Satoru Nii (Wind Breaker); and Mao Momiji, an expert in food illustration. On the music front, a highlight will be the exclusive concert by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts, renowned for the legendary Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, who will be performing outside Japan for the first time. Also attending will be director Shinichiro Watanabe, the creator of the series.
The Auditorium will host special screenings including Detectiu Conan: One-eyed Flashback (in Catalan), Ghibli’s Whisper of the Heart, and Memories by Katsuhiro Otomo. New additions will include a dedicated area called “Onachan’s Room” and new ticket options, such as the Onachan Fast Pass and a children’s ticket to facilitate family attendance.
Ticket sales will begin at the end of July. More information, here.
