The CESB presents the study ‘The situation of women in the labour market in Barcelona and the Barcelona Metropolitan Region."’.

The current challenges involve a transformation of inequalities, which, for women as a group, is reflected in greater polarisation and a worsening of working conditions. This is not only due to gender issues, but also to other variables such as social class, ethnicity or functional diversity. This heterogeneity imposes a model of labour relations in which the female sex is once again discriminated against in multiple ways.

Studies of the labour market from a gender perspective in recent decades not only highlight the existing inequality, but also show how gender inequality is a structuring factor in labour relations that, rather than reducing the gap, transform this unequal relationship into other types of discrimination.

The Economic and Social Council of Barcelona thought it opportune to assess the diversity of situations in terms of gender by promoting the study ‘The situation of women in the Barcelona labour market’, carried out by the company MonoDEstudio.

The presentation of the study was given by the company which is the author of the work and included speeches by the 5th Deputy Mayor, Ms. Raquel Gil and the President of the City Council, Ms. Raquel Gil. Sra. Raquel Gil and the president of CESB, Mr. Eduardo Rojo. The social and president of CESB, Mr. Eduardo Rojo. The social and economic agents represented in the Council will also speak: CCOO, Foment, UGT and PIMEC.
