La Mercè Bimbo Global Youth Race

This year, La Mercè Bimbo Global Race has added a new category aimed at young people born between 2007 and 2011 who want to do sport and join one of the city’s most emblematic races: La Mercè Bimbo Global Youth Race.

Running is one of the most accessible and easy-to-do sports. Therefore, if you were born between 2007 and 2011, we invite you to participate and wear the t-shirt designed just for the event. This new category has two distances, depending on the runner's age: 0.8 and 1.6 kilometres.


TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

DAY OF THE RACE: 17 September 2023.

START: The races will take place once the participants of the 10K and 2K races have reached the finish line. They are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.

The trophies will be presented to the winners at the end of the competition.

DISTANCE: 0.8 km (one lap) and 1.6 km (two laps).

ROUTE: Starting from Av. Reina Maria Cristina, continuing along Av. Rius i Taulet to Calle Mèxic, and turning back along Av. Rius i Taulet to Calle de la Guàrdia Urbana and reaching the finish line, located at Av, Reina Maria Cristina.


Rules

  1. La Mercè 10K Bimbo Global Race will be held on 17 September, starting from Av. Reina Maria Cristina for the 10K race and from the intersection of Calles Sepulveda and Comte Borrell for the 2K race. At the end of the races, starting at 11:30 a.m., the first edition of La Mercè Bimbo Global Youth Race will be held, starting with the 2011 category and up to 2007.

  2. Young people born between 2007 and 2011 can participate in La Mercè Bimbo Global Youth Race.

  3. The race will go around Av. Reina Maria Cristina and Av. Rius i Taulet.

  4. Categories, distances and approximate starting time: the circuit is 800 metres, so the 1,600-metre races will have two laps.

    The organisers reserve the right to modify the distances and/or categories up to four days before the races at its discretion.

  5. Registration costs 3 euros, VAT included, including a blank chip and t-shirt. Registration is online only on the website of La Mercè 10K Bimbo Global Race, until 11 September or upon reaching 1,500 registrations.

  6. The bib number and t-shirt can be picked up on 15 September between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm, and on 16 September between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm at the Italian Pavilion, in Carles Buïgas square, just in front of the Magic Fountain.

  7. Participants must wear the bib so it is clearly visible.

  8. The races will be officially timed, and all participants will receive a medal, refreshments and lunch courtesy of Bimbo.

  9. The proceeds from the registration fee will be donated in full to the Associació in via (more information in the section La Mercè solidària). Registration will only be valid once payment has been made. In addition, Bimbo, as the main sponsor, will provide 20 slices of bread for each participant, which will be donated to the Barcelona Food Bank.

  10. The organisers accept no responsibility for any physical and/or material accidents that the participants may cause to others or suffer by themselves. In all cases, parents or legal guardians shall take responsibility for any damages that may be suffered from or caused by minors.

  11. Image rights, dissemination and distribution: The images (still and/or moving) of the participants in this sporting event may be used by the organisation for the sole purpose of informing, promoting and consulting the edition in which they were taken.

  12. There will be trophies for the first three and the winners of each race and medals for all participants. The same person may not participate in more than one race.

Runner Service Fair

The Runner Service Fair is located in the Italian Pavilion, in the Carles Buïgas square, just in front of the Font Màgica. Its hours of operation are:

  • On the 15th: morning shift from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, and afternoon shift from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
  • On the 16th: morning shift from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and afternoon shift from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The chosen day and time slot must be respected.

No T-shirt exchanges will be allowed.

To collect the race bib and chip, you must bring your proof of registration and an ID card or passport. If you are collecting them on behalf of another person, you have to bring the receipt and a photocopy of the person’s ID card or passport.


**The back of the participants' race bib must be filled in with the runner's data. The telephone number should belong to the contact person in case of accident, not the participant.
