Public transport discounts to be maintained in 2026

The governing board of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) agreeded to approve public transport prices for 2026 and maintain the current 50% discounts, conditioned by the Spanish government approving their economic contribution.

The proposal approved will allow for the continuity of the two most common discounts, the T-usual and the T-jove, along with the social types for large families, single-parent families and the unemployed, maintaining them at half their real cost in an effort to favour more recurrent travel and ensure equal and affordable access to public transport.

Keeping these discounts represents an additional cost of more than 110 million euros, which will be borne jointly by the three administrations making up the ATM Consortium: the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.

Price rise of 3.5%

Apart from the discounts, the proposal entails an average price rise of 3.5%, in line with the evolution of inflation and essential for guaranteeing the continuity, quality and coverage of the service in a context of generalised operational costs of the public transport system.

The pricing update is a non-linear rise on all tickets and zones with the aim of preserving territorial balance and minimising the impact on the longest journeys, which have the highest prices.
