Work under way on the access to the Glòries metro station from the DHub
The new foyer of the Glòries metro station will connect with the ground floor of the DHub and act as a space for transition between public transport and the cultural facility. Besides being a new entrance to the metro, the foyer will also be a space to disseminate activities and cultural events. The design project is the result of a competition promoted by the DHub and the FAD. With an investment of around one million euros, the work should conclude in the summer of 2026, coinciding with the UIA congress.
The new metro entrance will be operational during the facility’s usual opening times, daily, from 9 am to 9 pm, except for Mondays, when it will be open from 3.30 pm. The management of some spaces will be adapted to handle the increase in users without compromising the experience of visitors or the conservation of the building. Thes changes will be implemented in parallel to the work.
The connection between the metro and the DHub will be via an intermediate space: an independent foyer clad with the same materials as the rest of the project but in a different colour. A new exit route is also planned from the metro platforms, with a TMB ticket validating area and a false ceiling to maintain uniformity with the rest of the space.
The interior design opts for an open and accessible design, with a suspended ceiling using organic shapes with lighting, signage, audiovisual screens and technical systems all built in. The new foyer, together with the new station bar and multi-functional bench, define a space conceived as a prelude to the museum and a meeting point for people.
