Disruptions to mobility for Catalan National Day 2022
The various events being organised for Catalonia’s national day on Sunday 11 September will mean disruptions to mobility in Barcelona, affecting the usual public transport services and the circulation of private vehicles. The biggest disruptions will be in the afternoon, with the demonstration organised by the ANC at 4.30 pm.
Parking prohibited and exits on the Ronda del Litoral closed
From 6 am on Saturday, 10 September, to 11.59 pm on Sunday, 11 September, parking will be prohibited in Av. Marquès de l’Argentera (both sides), between Pg. Picasso and Pla de Palau.
From 10 am to 11 pm on Sunday, 11 September, parking will not be allowed either in Passeig d’Isabel II (side nearest the sea), between Pas de Sota Muralla and Pla de Palau.
As from 3.30 pm on Sunday, Av. Paral·lel will be closed to traffic. Exit 21 (both directions) and exit 22 (Llobregat-bound) on the Ronda del Litoral will also be closed to vehicles. During the demonstration, traffic will be restricted on all roads on and around the route for the march.
In addition, on-site access routes from the monumental area around the Magic Fountain to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya will be closed from 8 pm to midnight. The display by the Magic Fountain will be suspended on the evening of 11 September.
Extra metro services, diversions and restrictions on twenty bus routes
Given the disruptions, people are recommended to use the metro to get around and to allow more time for journeys, as with any other large event. Although metro services will be bolstered to handle the increase in demand, some stations may be affected by the volume of passengers. These are Espanya (L1/L3), Urquinaona (L1/L4), Arc de Triomf (L1), Tetuan (L2), Barceloneta (L4), Girona (L4), Jaume I (L4), Paral·lel (L2/L3), Poble Sec (L3), Drassanes (L3) and Liceu (L3).
In terms of bus services, disruptions will affect the D50, H16, 19 and 62 services between 6 am and 2 pm, owing to the wreath-laying at the Rafael Casanova monument. In the afternoon, between 4.30 pm and 9 pm, the demonstration organised by the ANC means that the following bus services will be affected: D20, D50, H14, H16, V9, V11, V15, V19, 13, 19, 21, 46, 47, 52, 55, 59, 65, 79, 120, 121 and 150, plus the Barcelona Bus Turístic (red route). In addition, the V17 and 54 services will also be affected owing to the concerts in Pg. Lluís Companys.
