Under the title “Strength in unity”, the fifteenth edition of the Pantalla circuit explores solidarity, social struggles, cultural diversity and collective creation at 23 community centres in the Barcelona Community Centre Network.
The Barcelona Districte Cultural film cycle is screening a total of 20 works between now and the end of March, from award-winning full-length international fiction and documentaries to European animation, with the Petit Pantalla for children.
Social commitment opens the cycle with works such as Atlantique (Mati Diop, 2019), El 47 (Marcel Barrena, 2024), El sueño de la sultana (Isabel Herguera, 2023) and the documentary Ellas en la ciudad (Reyes Gallegos, 2025), showing how collective action in social struggles and policy becomes a strength to challenge injustice.
There are also stories of mutual support in difficult times: Los buenos profesores (Thomas Lilti, 2023), Los reyes del mundo (Laura Mora, 2022) and The Old Oak (Ken Loach, 2023).
Artistic creation is the protagonist with La estrella azul (Javier Macipe, 2023) and Las chicas están bien (Itsaso Arana, 2023), while Houria (Mounia Meddour, 2023) reflects how diversity and collective support help to overcome obstacles and build equal paths.
The cycle also includes workshops, talks and film forums to broaden debate: from the urban narrative linked to El 47 to a collage and sign workshop inspired by Pride, plus a dialogue with the Centre for African and Intercultural Studies based on Atlantique.
Petit Pantalla
The line-up is completed with eight children’s films where friendship, mutual support and creativity hold the key to overcoming challenges and imagining a better future. Guillot i Llebre salven el bosc (Mascha Halberstad, 2024), Salvatges (Claude Barras, 2024) and L’illa dels ocells (various directors, 2022-2023) defend nature and the environment.
Hola, Frida! (Karine Vézina and André Kadi, 2025) and Sirocco i el regne dels vents (Benoît Chieux, 2023) highlight creativity and fraternity as drivers of resilience and imagination. L’univers en miniatura de No-No (Wassim Boutalen Joutei and Mathieu Auvray, 2017-2019) and Lola i el piano trencaclosques (various directors, 2017-2025) talk of friendship, diversity and inclusion, and Ernest & Celestine, contes de primavera (Aurélie Raphaël, 2022) again celebrates art, solidarity and the value of friendship.
Admission to the Pantalla is free and seats can be booked using the links for the films mentioned.
