Schools will be opening their playgrounds for three-hour periods, except for 25 and 26 December, and 1 and 6 January, when they will all be closed.

Each school playground has monitors who open and close the playground at the scheduled times, ensure the proper use of the facilities and aim to establish engagement between children and young people.

The playgrounds opening this Christmas are:

• From 11 am to 2 pm: Institut Pau Claris and Escola Pere Vila (Ciutat Vella), Escola Drassanes (Ciutat Vella), Escola Ramon Llull (Eixample), Escola Lluís Vives and Institut Lluís Vives (Sants-Montjuïc), Institut Menéndez y Pelayo (Sarrià – Sant Gervasi, closed on 27 December), Escola Rius i Taulet (Gràcia), Escola de les Aigües (Horta-Guinardó), Institut Escola Coves d’en Cimany (Horta-Guinardó), Escola Calderón (Nou Barris), Biblioteca Escola Mercè Rodoreda (Nou Barris), Escola Doctor Ferran i Clua (Sant Andreu) and Escola Antoni Brusi (Sant Martí).
• From 4 pm to 7 pm: Escola Duran i Bas (Les Corts).
• From 22 to 31 December, seven days a week, from 11 am to 2 pm: Escola Concepción Arenal (Sant Martí) and Escola Eduard Marquina (Sant Martí).

Nursery schools open on Saturday, 20 December

The Escola Bressol Municipal (EBM) Caspolino will be offering storytelling at 11.30 am on Saturday, 20 December. The following twenty nursery schools will also be opening their playgrounds on the same Saturday, from 10.30 am to 1 pm, for little ones to play:

• Ciutat Vella: EBM Canigó and EBM La Mar.
• Eixample: EBM Casa dels Nens and EBM Germanetes.
• Sants-Montjuïc: EBM Pau and EBM L’Esquirol.
• Les Corts: EBM Can Bruixa.
• Sarrià – Sant Gervasi: EBM El Putxet.
• Gràcia: EBM Caspolino and EBM Sant Medir.
• Horta-Guinardó: EBM Cargol, EBM Valldaura and EBM Teixonera
• Nou Barris: EBM Pla de Fornells and EBM Ralet
• Sant Andreu: EBM El Palomar and EBM La Morera
• Sant Martí: EBM Cobi, EBM El Bressol del Poblenou and EBM Margalló
