Once again, we’ll say goodbye to La Mercè with an author pyromusical. In previous years, the music was chosen first by the Sónar festival and later by Rosalía. This year, it’s the turn of David and José Muñoz—better known as Estopa—to curate the soundtrack you’ll hear as the Barcelona sky lights up. On September 28, the closing celebration of La Mercè takes place on Avinguda de Maria Cristina, with Estopa at the heart of the show.

Come to the iconic Montjuïc avenue at 10 p.m. and enjoy one of the city’s most popular events. Every year, thousands of locals and visitors gather to watch a dazzling fireworks display set to a tailor-made soundtrack, this year with Vueling as a sponsor.

This year’s curators are among the most emblematic musical groups to emerge from Catalonia. Estopa’s blend of rumba, pop, and rock has resonated across generations, leaving behind songs that have become true popular anthems.

The soundtrack they’ve prepared will reflect their own creative universe, mixing tracks by other artists with some of their own hits, all while engaging in a powerful dialogue with the fireworks of Pirotècnia Igual. Fire, music, and emotion will once again bring Barcelona’s grand city festival to a close.

The concept of the author pyromusical was introduced in 2023. That year, Sónar celebrated its 30th anniversary by curating the show, while in 2024, the internationally acclaimed Rosalía took charge, even premiering her new track Omega (with Ralphie Choo) during the event.

If you don’t want to miss the 2025 Author Pyromusical of La Mercè, head to Avinguda de Maria Cristina on September 28. But first, check all the details on the official La Mercè website.
