Where to leave your Christmas tree after the festive period
A total of 227 collection points have been set up all around the city and will be in place until 17 January. People can leave trees there and other vegetal ornaments, without decorations attached.
The same operation saw 10,268 Christmas trees collected last year. The trees are used to improve maintenance around the city’s parks and gardens.
The trees are taken to the municipal nursery, where they are treated for a few months to make mulch for the city’s green spaces. This material helps the soil retain humidity and to aerate it, also preventing the appearance of weeds.
Christmas trees and other seasonal vegetal elements such as branches should be taken to collection points free of decorations such as baubles, stars and garlands. The points will be in place until 17 January.
