More days to enjoy ‘The City of Dreams’ with the kids

The City of Dreams, an unmissable event on Barcelona’s Christmas calendar, is back this year to recreate an imaginary city where children can learn about all sorts of professions through play. The fair also helps them become more aware of the importance of looking after the planet. This edition of the fair will be open for seven days in all, two more than last year.

The revamped Children’s Festival includes over 120 activities and experiences for all the family and on this occasion stresses the importance of looking after the planet.

The event will be on for longer too, enabling children up to the age of twelve and their families to enjoy it all through the Christmas holidays. The fair is on from 27 to 30 December, and from 2 to 4 January. There’s also more room this year, with 17,000 square metres in hall 2 of Fira Barcelona and outside, in Plaça de l’Univers.

The festival recreates an imaginary city where kids can play and imagine what they want to be when they grow up, stroll around streets where they’ll find various public facilities, such as a City Hall, a children’s nursery, a supermarket, a cinema, a veterinary clinic, a large technology park and a large sports area.

Things to play

Children will be able to play at being detectives with an escape game where they have to solve a mystery, or at writers in a workshop. There will also be a large stage where they can sing, dance, play the guitar and play at being rock stars.

The festival also features a track where children and the adults accompanying them will be able to discover smart mobility with electric scooters, raising awareness about the importance of non-polluting mobility and learning road safety rules.

The City of Dreams is organised jointly by Fira Barcelona and Barcelona City Council, with support from the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona Provincial Council and over forty entities, companies and organisations.
