Update: 18/8/25

Given the simultaneous activation of response plans, the City Council has implemented the Municipal Civil Protection Plan at alert phase.

Deactivation of the daytime alert for extreme heat, while the emergency for torrid nights remains activated

On Monday, 18 August, the daytime alert for extreme heat was lifted as temperatures are not expected to exceed 31 degrees Celsius. The emergency due to torrid nights remains in effect, with forecasts indicating that temperatures will not fall below 28 degrees tonight and tomorrow night. The Barcelona Centre for Social Emergencies and Urgent Care (CUESB) remains on alert in case specific interventions or the relocation of vulnerable individuals are required while the emergency for torrid nights continues.

Through telecare services, home care, and social service centres, specific information is being provided along with systematic monitoring and follow-up of people in vulnerable situations. Throughout this period, a permanent telephone service (900 703 030) is available to the public, and information is being shared regarding the possible effects of a heat wave and the full set of recommendations to prevent them.

Alert: The alert phase of the Municipal Action Plan for Wildfire Risk has been activated

The City Council has activated the Municipal Action Plan for Wildfire Risk at alert phase, following the Generalitat de Catalunya’s activation of level 3 of the Alfa Plan in Barcelonès. With this, all Barcelona fire brigades will remain on alert due to the high likelihood of wildfire, and resources are being reinforced in Collserola.

Citizens are urged to exercise maximum caution and cooperation. As a reminder, forestry work and activities that could generate sparks are prohibited within 500 metres of woodland. This includes the prohibition of burning waste and lighting barbecues (only permitted in authorised areas, and only if they comply with the conditions established by the Forest Strip Decree).

Teams are deployed across nearly 1,800 hectares of parkland belonging to the city of Barcelona, spread across the districts of Les Corts, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Horta-Guinardó, Nou Barris and Gràcia. The Barcelona Fire Service’s forest campaign began in early June and will remain active until mid-September. During this period, the Civil Protection, Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Service (SPCPEIS) adapts and strengthens its operations to address the challenges of the summer months.
