Emergency plan launched to promote peaceful coexistence in Sant Antoni
An emergency intervention plan has been launched in the Sant Antoni neighbourhood. The initiative includes cleaning efforts, as well as measures to prevent antisocial behaviour and strengthen community cohesion and security. The plan will provide immediate and visible solutions in response to concerns raised by neighbourhood organisations and businesses, who are collaborating on the initiative.

Led by the L’Eixample District and the security forces (the Guardia Urbana and Mossos d’Esquadra), the plan will work closely with key neighbourhood organisations: SOM Sant Antoni, Sant Antoni Comerç SAC, the Associació de Veïns de Sant Antoni, the Sant Antoni Market, and the NGO De Veï a Veï. These groups will act as the main channels for community concerns and requests.
The Guardia Urbana’s neighbourhood police presence will be stepped up with additional foot patrols, working in coordination with the Mossos d’Esquadra.
Alongside these efforts, cleaning services are being reinforced with an extra team that will inspect the areas around rubbish bins twice a day—morning and afternoon—to prevent rubbish from overflowing and the building up.
Everyone in the community shares the common goal of finding solutions that make a real difference on issues like cleanliness, public safety, antisocial behaviour and conflicts in public spaces. The plan will also tackle more complex challenges and vulnerable situations, such as substance use and people sleeping rough.
