Guided tours of La Model, now available every day

New opportunity to visit La Model and learn all the secrets of the old prison in the Esquerra de l'Eixample. Starting this week and until 31 July, guided tours will be held every day of the week, and the City Council has increased the number of free places available to citizens to tour the interior of the penitentiary centre.

Until now, guided tours were offered on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Now, however, they will also be offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, with two groups: one at 5:00 p.m. (in Catalan) and another at 5:30 p.m. (in Spanish). Tickets, which are free but must be booked in advance, are available on the La Model website: www.lamodel.barcelona.

  • From Monday to Friday: 5:00 p.m. (Catalan) and 5:30 p.m. (Spanish).
  • Saturdays: 11:00 a.m. (Catalan), 11:30 a.m. (Spanish), 5:00 p.m. (Catalan) and 5:30 p.m. (Spanish).
  • Sundays: 10:30 a.m. (Catalan) and 12:00 noon (Spanish).

These guided tours will continue until 31 July 2026, except on public holidays, when La Model is usually closed, with the aim of allowing everyone to visit the prison under the guidance of a guide who can explain the history and the most important events that took place within its walls.

In addition to these guided tours, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays there is also the possibility of visiting La Model without a guide, freely exploring its corridors, cells and central panopticon. The City Council also offers guided tours for schools, with routes and activities specially designed for students in the higher cycle of primary education, compulsory secondary education (ESO) and upper secondary education.
