The figures for 2025 reflect the healthy evolution of the city’s economy. The latest report on economic activity in the city and the data for the tax on economic activity (IAE) show a growth in the different fiscal and economic indicators, demonstrating a clear recovery and consolidation following the difficulties caused by the pandemic.

The snapshot for 2025 reflects an increase of 5.8% and a growth of 3.3% in the revenue generated, in other words an increase of 2.8 million euros compared to the previous year.

This is the third year running that the figures show a positive evolution after the negative effects of the pandemic in 2021 and 2022, which forced some businesses and bank branches to close down.

By sector, commerce and tourism represent 50% of the data, while the sector of finance and professional service for companies represents 19%.

Barcelona City Council is implementing measures to improve tax management and information for taxpayers, the promotion of the reverse charge mechanism and making it easier to comply with tax obligations, helping to maintain and increase the generation of revenue in future tax years.
