Protection protocols activated at the City Council as two test positive for COVID-19
Protection protocols have been activated after two municipal workers tested positive for COVID-19. Everybody who came into close contact with the two workers during the last few days has gone into confinement as a preventative measure. None of those confined have any symptoms.
The first case detected was a worker at the Municipal Nursery School in Gràcia. The facility has been closed as a preventative measure and will initially stay closed for two weeks.
The second case is a worker from the Area of Economy, Resources and Financial Promotion at the City Council. People who came into close contact with the worker in recent days have also gone into confinement. None of these people have developed symptoms and they are all working from home.
The two people who tested positive and have minor symptoms are at home and making good progress. Municipal staff are working with health authorities to trace everyone who came into contact with the two people who tested positive for COVID-19.
Barcelona City Council is again conveying a message of calm among the organisation and the general public, with a commitment to keep offering updated and transparent information. At the same time, the City Council also points out that all the measures being applied are in keeping with the criteria established by the health authorities.
