Roadworks in the side lanes in Av. Diagonal and Gran Via

Mobility will be affected over the weekend of 27 and 28 January and on 3 February, with work on road surfaces and changes to the vertical signage obliging users to turn right from the side lanes in Av. Diagonal and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes. The goal is to improve local road accessibility.

The changes will be applied to both side lanes in Av. Diagonal, from C/ Aragó to Pl. Francesc Macià, and the side lane in Gran Via, from Pl. Espanya to Pl. Glòries. The side lane in this section of Gran Via on the side nearest the mountains will continue to be exclusively for public transport and authorised vehicles.

Since bike lanes were added, these side lanes have a single lane of traffic and so this measure is not expected to increase the volume of vehicles.

Work will be done at nine junctions with Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, specifically where the street meets the streets of Villarroel, Viladomat, Vilamarí, Lepant, Marina, Pau Claris, Nàpols, Muntaner and Balmes, and at the junctions in Av. Diagonal with Via Augusta, Aribau, Muntaner and Roger de Llúria.

The obligation to turn will continue at three points. The side lane nearest the sea in Av. Diagonal at Pg. Gràcia, the goal being to ensure road safety at a point in the central section where Besòs-bound vehicles join the road and the side lane nearest the sea in Av. Diagonal. The side lane nearest the sea in Av. Diagonal heading towards Pau Claris will also be maintained, reducing traffic in the area of work, and in the side lanes nearest the sea in Gran Via heading towards Bailèn, as the lane on the sea side ends at this point die to the configuration or Pl. Tetuan.

Mobility disruptions due to roadworks over the weekend of 27 and 28 January

To apply these changes, work will be carried out at various points along the side lane on the side nearest the sea in Gran Via on Saturday, 27 January, affecting mobility at the junctions with Vilamarí, Viladomat and Villarroel.

This means some traffic lanes will be closed in these streets, but circulation in the direction of the sea will be maintained at all times. Access to the side lane of Gran Via nearest the sea will be closed from the streets of Rocafort, Calàbria, Comte Borrell and Comte d’Urgell.

There will also be disruptions in the same side lane at the junctions with Marina and Lepant. In the case of Marina, work will occupy the side lane in the section nearest the Llobregat, heading towards the mountain. Access from C/ Sardenya to the side lane of Gran Via nearest the sea will be closed, and in the case of Lepant circulation will not be affected.

On Sunday, 28 January, work will focus on the same side lane in Gran Via, but at the junctions with Pau Claris, Muntaner and Balmes. The junction with Pau Claris will be affected, with access closed (except for reserved entrances) from the central section of Gran Via at Passeig de Gràcia, obliging users to continue along the same central section. The alternative route will be along the streets of Roger de Llúria, Diputació and Pau Claris, to rejoin the side lane in Gran Via. Bike lanes will not be affected.

There will also be disruption at the junctions with Muntaner and the side lane nearest the sea in Gran Via will be closed at the junction with Villarroel, obliging users to turn towards the sea (except for reserved entrances), and at C/ Casanova.

Similarly, there will be disruptions at the junction with C/ Nàpols, and access from the central section of Gran Via at Roger de Flor will be closed, obliging users to continue along the same central section and offering a diversion along Sicília, Diputació and Nàpols to rejoin the side lane.

Finally, there will be disruptions at the junction with C/ Balmes, with the side lane in Gran Via closed next to Pl. Universitat and users obliged to turn in the direction of the sea.

Disruptions in the side lanes of Av. Diagonal on Saturday, 3 February

Disruptions are expected in the side lane nearest the mountains in Av. Diagonal, at the junction with Via Augusta. The road will be closed in Pl. Cinc d’Oros, with no access to the side lane nearest the mountains in Av. Diagonal and vehicles to be diverted along Passeig de Gràcia.

There will also be road closures in Tuset, Villarroel, Casanova, Bruc and Girona, preventing access to the side lane in Av. Diagonal, due to disruptions at the junctions with the streets of Aribau, Muntaner and Roger de Llúria.
