TMB to manage bus services in the north of Nou Barris

As from May, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is to directly manage bus services in the northern sector of the Nou Barris district, operated by the company Segalés since 2010. The move is designed to improve service in this part of the city and offer more frequent connections between the neighbourhoods and the city.

When the contract with Sagalés and its successive extensions conclude in May, TMB is to operate all bus services in the neighbourhoods of Ciutat Meridiana, Torre Baró and Vallbona. These areas are currently served by the D50 service (Paral·lel – Ciutat Meridiana), line 62 (Pl. Catalunya – Ciutat Meridiana), line 76 (Sant Genís – Ciutat Meridiana) and line 97 (Pg. Fabra i Puig – Vallbona), as well as the on-demand bus service in Torre Baró.

A technical proposal for the bus in Nou Barris

The new era for the bus service in the northern part of the Nou Barris district comes with a proposal for restructuring lines to offer more frequent services and connectivity between the neighbourhoods and the city, avoiding overlapping and general improving quality of service.

To this end, a participatory process will be started to propose the implementation of two new lines: the 180 (Trinitat Nova – Vallbona) and the 182 (Pl. de la República – Torre Baró), as well as the extension of the on-demand service and the number 62 service.
