Alert for heat waves and emergency for torrid nights deactivated

During the period of the heat wave alert and emergency for torrid nights, home care and telecare services, social service centres, and the Barcelona Social Urgencies and Emergencies Centre provided targeted information relating to the weather risk. This was accompanied by systematic monitoring of vulnerable individuals. Measures to inform and support vulnerable groups, usually carried out by the Barcelona City Council between 15 June and 15 September, were also intensified.

Alert for risk of wildfires deactivated

On Tuesday, 19 August, the municipal plan for risk of wildfires was deactivated from alert stage due to improved weather conditions. Throughout the alert period, all Barcelona Fire Brigade stations remained on standby in anticipation of potential fires in the Collserola Natural Park.

The Barcelona Fire Brigade’s forest fire campaign began in early June and will continue until mid-September. During the summer months, resources are reinforced and adapted to ensure a rapid and effective response to any forest fires that may occur.
