“Open Streets”, now from 9 am to 8 pm
As usual, the first weekend in October means that the “Open Streets” initiative switches to its winter timetable to adapt to the reduction in daylight hours and uses by the general public. On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October, Gran de Gràcia and the street of Sants-Creu Coberta will be opening to pedestrians again, but from 9 am to 8 pm.
The days are gradually getting shorter, with fewer hours of daylight. Because of this, “Open Streets” is bringing its opening times forward by an hour to allow citizens to enjoy traffic-free streets in daylight hours. The new hours of 9 am to 8 pm apply until the last weekend of April. As ever, the streets of Sants-Creu Coberta and Gran de Gràcia will be open for pedestrians, free of noise and fumes, offering an opportunity for spontaneous play in the middle of the street, enjoying the neighbourhood shops and more.
Medieval Fair to transform C/ Creu Coberta
“Open Streets” in C/ Creu Coberta, between Pl. Espanya and C/ Joanot Martorell (along with sections in the streets of Consell de Cent, Rector Triadó and Diputació) will be journey to the past this weekend with a new edition of the Hostafrancs Medieval Fair, featuring shows, a market, solidarity spaces and children’s activities throughout the weekend. The celebration forms part of the local festival currently being held in Hostafrancs.
The fair means that the road will not be reopened to traffic on Saturday night, with restrictions in place in this section of C/ Creu Coberta from 7 am on Saturday, 4 October, to 9 pm on Sunday, 5 October.
