More funding for grants to access extracurricular sports activities
The Barcelona Institute of Sport is earmarking 4.8 million euros for grants to facilitate participation in extracurricular sports activities, representing an increase of 100,000 euros compared to last year. The grants are aimed at families with children between the ages of 6 and 17, and with limited household incomes. The application period is open until 9 October.
The goal is to promote healthy habits from childhood and ensure an accessible and inclusive range of quality activities. There are 343 officially authorised organisations taking part, with a wide array of sports activities in different disciplines, which applicants must have already registered for.
Grant applications can be submitted online from 16 September to 9 October 2025, via the City Council’s virtual procedures office. Anybody needing help with the procedure can call the phone number 933 039 970 from Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 7 pm.
