Special mobility operation in Montjuïc for the Barça match and the music and firework spectacular
FC Barcelona are playing at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys again on Sunday, 28 September, coinciding with the preparations for the music and firework spectacular for La Mercè. Mobility has been adapted in the area to make the two events compatible, with restrictions in place from 3 pm into the night. It will not be possible to use the steps to climb Montjuïc and the shuttle bus will not be leaving from Pl. Espanya, but from Av. Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia, in front of the CaixaFòrum.
For both events, people are advised to get there on foot or on public transport. In the case of the football match, access to Montjuïc for private vehicles will be limited from four hours before kick-off.
Access to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys
Fans can get to the stadium on foot from Pl. Espanya, from C/ Foc and from Av. Miramar, if using the funicular. The steps will be closed from 3 pm, meaning that to get from Av. Reina Maria Cristina to the Anella Olímpica on foot, spectators will need to follow Av. Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia or Av. Santa Madrona.
The recommended exit route after the match is towards Pg. Zona Franca, owing to the crowds in Av. Reina Maria Cristina for the music and fireworks. The esplanade at the Anella Olímpica will be open for anyone wishing to watch the fireworks after the match.
Options for reaching the Anella Olímpica on public transport:
- Shuttle bus service to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys from Av. Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia, in front of the Caixaforum, or from the Fira 2 car park, next to the pavilions of Fira de Barcelona Gran Via. The service to reach the stadium starts at 4.30 pm and the return service starts straight after the match. After the match, all shuttle buses will use C/ Foc to go towards the Fira 2 car park, with no buses travelling towards Pl. Espanya.
- Bus services serving the area around the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Check the Getting there tool.
- Funicular de Montjuïc, getting to the stadium afterwards on foot via Av. Miramar.
- Metro: the metro stops nearest to the Parc de Montjuïc are Espanya (L1, L3, L8 and other FGC lines, Poble-sec (L3), Paral·lel (L2 and L3), Foc (L10 Sud), Foneria (L10 Sud) and Magòria – La Campana (L8 and other FGC lines). If you’re arriving by metro in Pl. Espanya on Sunday, bear in mind that the steps up the mountain will be closed from 3 pm for preparations for the music and firework spectacular.
