Closing act on 12 April, at 10:00, at La Filadora pre-school

Desbordaments, meaning “Overflows”, aims to send art pouring out over the walls of the art centre to reach citizens who rarely take part in neighbourhood cultural spaces or programmes. The idea is to take works and exhibits from the La Fabra Art Centre’s exhibitions outside into public and private spaces across Barcelona’s district of Sant Andreu. This programme sees the neighbourhood’s institutions, communities and residents not only as recipients, but also as mediating agents who generate insights and offer new views on artistic objects and practices.

The first Desbordament stars the artistic duo Fuentesal Arenillas, who are carrying out a specific project with La Filadora pre-school. Linking up to their exhibition at La Fabra Art Centre, the artists create a sculptural piece for the pre-school teachers to activate and use it as a basis for introducing pre-schoolers to concepts such as touch, play, imagination and the relationship between what is real and what is made-up.

The process will unfold over the seven-month life of the exhibition and conclude with a closing act on 12 April held jointly by the Art Centre and La Filadora to showcase the results of this collaboration.
