The initiative will be executed over the next few months at these four football grounds:

  1. Centre Esportiu Municipal Can Caralleu (Sarrià – Sant Gervasi)
  2. Camp Municipal de Futbol Maresme (Sant Martí)
  3. Camp Municipal de Futbol Guineueta (Nou Barris)
  4. Camp Municipal de Futbol Turó de la Peira (Nou Barris)

With an overall budget of 1.6 million euros, the project is part of the municipal commitment to offer citizens first-class sports facilities, backing innovation, sustainability and accessibility.

The artificial turf to be used offers several advantages:

  • Latest generation technology: the durability of the turf is certified and it is designed to offer optimal sports performance while guaranteeing the safety of players.
  • European regulations: the turf meets European regulations on the reduction of microplastics, which come into force in 2030.
  • More sustainable: the turf does not need styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) for maintenance, reducing its environmental impact.

The work gets under way at the end of June and is expected to be completed in the middle of September this year.

The initiative comes in addition to the work recently completed at a further 12 football grounds, with an overall investment of 5.1 million euros.

There are also plans to renew the turf at the Torrent del Bosc and Clot de la Mel football grounds soon.
