The goal of the committee will be to study the current situation of the Catalan language in the digital sphere and the social use that young people in the city make of it, and also to study the strategy that Barcelona City Council can pursue to redress the current situation.

The study committee will analyse the following aspects:

  • The situation of Catalan among young people in the digital environment.
  • Audiovisual formats, both conventional (film, series etc.) and new formats (videopodcasting, audiovisual language on social media etc.).
  • Videogames and content creators.
  • Successful projects being implemented in Catalan-speaking areas in this field and successful experiences in other countries.
  • The role of public media in terms of fostering the use of Catalan among young people, their cultural consumption, information and entertainment; as well as multi-platform media, particularly focusing on the opportunities that Betevé can offers in relation to the rest of the ecosystem.

The creation of the committee was approved with votes from Junts-Trias×BCN, the PSC, BComú and the ERC, while the PP and Vox voted against it.
