Workshop

Novíssims (The Newest)

A series of talks that aims to take the pulse of the architecture being produced today across Catalonia, focusing on young studios led by architects under forty who stand out for their creativity and innovation.

The goal is to give visibility to new generations and open up debate on emerging trends in the sector.

The series foresees twelve lectures grouped into seven sessions, with two events in each COAC region. Each session will feature two studios and a moderator in a dynamic conversation on built work and architectural vision, encouraging the exchange of ideas across territories and diverse approaches.

The sessions will take place in unusual venues outside the association’s headquarters, to spotlight little‑known or disused heritage and connect it with architecture, offering a singular experience to attendees. The selection of participants will be made jointly with COAC’s six regional branches (Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida, Girona, Ebre and Comarques Centrals) to ensure territorial balance.

The selected studios will stand out for the quality and originality of their work and their ability to offer innovative solutions to contemporary challenges such as sustainability, housing, public space and citizen participation.

The activity seeks to showcase young talent and place new generations of architects at the centre of the professional and civic debate. It aims to foster sustained dialogue between studios and territories, encouraging the exchange of experiences and methodologies that help generate innovative responses to current challenges—such as sustainability, housing, public space and citizen participation. At the same time, it seeks to highlight local architecture and its territorial diversity, reactivating lesser‑known heritage spaces and strengthening the connection with place and landscape. Finally, it aspires to leave a lasting legacy through a publication compiling the most relevant works and learnings from the series.
