Lisandro Aristimuño

Folk roots sounds, as well as pop, rock and electronic music, are the main ingredients in the recipe served up by Lisandro Aristimuño, one of the most original Argentinian musicians of the moment. Aristimuño will perform at the Grec by request of festival fans.

The earth is in his blood, and he perfectly remembers his childhood in a province of northern Patagonia. No wonder, then, that his music delves deeply into the roots of Argentinian folk.  Nonetheless, his sound is not traditional, but a fusion of pop and rock with a touch of electronica, a mixture that enables him to connect with modern young music lovers around the world. The proof: that Barcelona fans voted massively for his candidature in the process of selecting artists launched by the promoter Cooncert. As a result, this son of a theatre director and musician and an actress will perform at BARTS. To date, Aristimuño has recorded five albums, the latest entitled Mundo Anfibio. Nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards in 2012, the following year Mundo Anfibio won the Gardel Prize for Best Alt Rock Album, an award that Aristimuño had already received for an earlier disc, Las crónicas del viento. Keen to support and promote independent and alternative sounds, Aristimuño has set up his own label, Viento Azul, which releases his own records and those of emerging artists.
