After the group’s enormous success in 2008, many wondered whether Manel would be able to match the expectations aroused by their first album, a folk-pop fusion coupling Catalan music with the best Anglo-Saxon pop sounds. The answer came in March this year with 10 milles per veure una bona armadura, an album which indisputably confirms that Guillem Gisbert, Roger Padilla, Martí Maymó and Arnau Vallvé are more than capable, not only of repeating the success of their debut, but also of winning over new fans with their new batch of songs. Manel impress particularly with the literary depth, poetry and fantasy that they infuse into such songs as “Aniversari” and the delicious “Boomerang”.
