Toni Mira

The founder of Nats Nus Dansa takes a monolith as his dance partner in a piece that combines various stage languages to forge a metaphor for our internal struggles.

Although he graduated in contemporary dance from the Theatre Institute, Toni Mira also trained as an architect. For this reason, we should not be surprised to find that his latest show is inspired by a geometric figure, an unusual monolith that serves as the excuse for Mira to demonstrate how his artistic universe has evolved over the eleven years since he presented his first dance solo, Loft, precisely, at the 2003 Grec Festival of Barcelona. This new piece revolves around a trial of strength between dancer and monolith, which, more than a mere stage resource, becomes a metaphor for the internal struggles and contradictions that constantly confront men and women. Dance lies at the heart of a show that, nevertheless, blends several different stage languages, from spoken word to video, percussion, the circus and even magic.
