To like or not to like

What is beauty and what does it have to do with political control and dissidence? You will find out in an initiative starring a group of young performers.

Maybe you’ve never thought about it, but the idea we have of beauty constitutes an especially powerful tool for political control. It is strengthened through social networks although these same control tools can also be at the service of dissidence. You will understand this perfectly as you watch the initiative featuring a group of young people. They will start working on the proposal on social networks a few days before the initiative, so you can follow them and afterwards see them perform. Everything will take place in a non-theatre space, where various issues will be put to audiences. What are the canons of beauty that we do and don’t accept?

An Escena Poblenou production and Ada Vilaró Company, in collaboration with the Joan Brossa Foundation and Projecte Ingenu.

A project subsidised by the Cultural Initiative Support Office (Catalan Government’s Ministry of Culture), Tarragona City Council and Barcelona City Council.
