At the Grec Festival in Barcelona there is also cinema: a cycle that is a summer classic and allows you to watch good movies at night and in the open air. The Grec, on screen.

Coinciding with a Grec Festival of Barcelona that looks to Asia, the Filmoteca de la Generalitat has programmed, in its Barcelona headquarters, a mini-cycle that brings us closer to the filmography of Lavrente Indico Diaz, better known by the stage name of Lav Diaz. This is how he has signed independent films that do not skimp on risk, with formats, techniques and durations that have little to do with the most commercial cinema. He plays unabashedly some subjects that have relation with the social and political life of the Philippines and that have won him prizes in the main Asian and European festivals. The following titles have been programmed

Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan (Norte, the End of History) (2013; 250 min)
10 July, the film will be introduced by director Lav Diaz and catalan filmmaker Albert Serra.
A simple man is imprisoned for a crime that he did not commit, but an intellectual frustrated with his country. The captivity radically transforms the prisoner while  outside his wife struggles desperately to keep the children of the couple alive. The film was invited to the UnCertain Regard section at Cannes Film Festival.

The worst fears of three leftist activists have come true and the world has been the victim of a global apocalypse. One of them looks for her husband, the other is persecuted by the memories of the women she loves and the third experiences a deep depression. An experimental drama of unusual duration. Horizons Award for the most promising film at the 65th Venice International Film Festival.

Ebolusyon ng Isang Pamilyang Pilipino (Evolution of a Filipin Family) (2005, 634 min)
Nine years dedicated the filmmaker to portray a family of low class, the family Gallardo, between 1971 and 1987. But, in fact, what Lav Diaz does is a review of fundamental facts in the recent history of his country, as for example the declaration of martial law dictated by Ferdinand Marcos or the fall of this autocrat in 1986. Awarded at the Freiburg International Film Festival.
