Registration for the Respir Plus programme now open
Respir Plus provides financial assistance for temporary stays in residential centres and private home care services for people over the age of 65 in situations of dependency. The aim is to ensure that non-professional carers have rest days and to improve quality of life for senior citizens receiving care. Applications can be submitted up to 30 November 2025.
The main new feature of this year’s Respiro Plus programme is the extended period during which residential stays and in-home support can be used, now running until 31 December 2025. The minimum resident registration requirement has been reduced from five years to four, and the programme is now open to individuals of all dependency levels. Those who don’t have a recognised level of dependency must provide a medical report confirming their need for support.
Over 200 families will be able to benefit from the Respir programme in its two categories. Residential stays can last for up to 45 days if the applicant and carer live at the same address, or up to 30 days if cohabitation is not confirmed. The maximum amount of the benefit is €75 per day, depending on income. The programme covers up to 186 hours of private home care at a rate of €18 per hour, provided that the beneficiary and the carer live at the same address.
Applications can be submitted until 30 November 2025 at the Social and Economic Benefits Office of the Municipal Institute of Social Services, located in Carrer d’Aragó, at any Citizen Help and Information Office or online via the municipal e-headquarters.
