Barcelona joins in with the Blood Donation Marathon and calls for solidarity
Barcelona is joining in with the campaign to give blood from 8 to 17 January, with points in hospitals and iconic spaces such as Sant Pau, the Palau de la Música, the CaixaForum and the Fabra i Coats. The goal is to reach more than 10,000 donations to guarantee the reserves needed in hospitals. Each donation can save up to three lives. Take the step!
The Blood Donation Marathon of Catalonia is back from 8 to 17 January with a collective challenge: to reach more than 10,000 donations and guarantee the reserves needed in hospitals. Barcelona is taking part with points at the hospitals of Clínic, Sant Pau and Vall d’Hebron, along with special campaigns around iconic sites such as the Palau de la Música, the Palau Robert, the CaixaForum and the Fabra i Coats.
The campaign gets under way on Thursday, 8 January, at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site, where people can give blood from 10 am to 8 pm. Under the slogan “The link that makes us immense”, the campaign reminds people that in just 20 minutes we can save up to three lives.
The city will be lighting up 53 fountains and over 50 buildings in red for the first time on Saturday, until 10 pm, adding visual weight to the call being made all around Catalonia. The Blood Bank notes that over 240,000 donations are needed to attend to 70,000 hospital patients this year.
How to take part?
You can give blood at the hospitals of Clínic, Sant Pau and Vall d’Hebron or at any of the provisional points during the campaign. Each donation is an act of life: take the step and help save lives.
