Disposable household incomes increase citywide
The annual report on disposable household incomes in 2022, compiled by the Department of Analysis at the Municipal Data Office, reveals an increase of 4.9% compared to 2021, following a growing trend after the pandemic, in 2020. All city neighbourhoods recorded increases in income per capita in 2022.
The neighbourhoods where disposable household incomes grew the most were the Gòtic, El Raval and Tres Torres (with income increases per capita of more than 9%), while La Clota, Can Baró, El Congrés i els Indians and Bon Pastor all saw increases under 2.5%.
Household incomes per capita (RDLpc), the indicator that best measures the average material well-being of the population in an area, stands at 22,994 euros, some 20% more than the figure for Catalonia (19,237 euros).
Sarrià – Sant Gervasi is the district with the highest disposable household income per capita (35,062 euros), while Ciutat Meridiana and Nou Barris have the lowest (16,838 euros and 16,872 euros respectively). Tres Torres is the neighbourhood with the highest RDLpc (41,430 euros) and Ciutat Meridiana has the lowest (11,789 euros).
The main source of household incomes in Barcelona come from salaries (56%), up by 10.1% compared to the previous year. Average incomes are up by 9.9%, standing at 25%, while social benefits dropped by 4.3% to stand at 19%.
