Tribute to the victims of the Hipercor attack
The annual ceremony to pay tribute to the victims of the Hupercor attack was held this morning in front of the monument located between the Parc de Can Dragó and Av. Rio de Janeiro.
The act was attended by the Catalan Minister for Interior Affairs and Public Safety, Núria Parlon, and the Third Deputy Mayor for Security, Prevention and Coexistence, Albert Batlle, along with other officials from the security and emergency corps.
On 19 June 1987, shortly after 4 pm, a car bomb exploded on the first floor of the car park in the Hipercor centre in Sant Andreu, killing 21 people and injuring another 46.
Today, 38 years on, we pay homage to the victims of what was the deadliest attack by the terrorist group ETA.
