The Biblio Digital includes City Council publications for the first time
Barcelona City Council has added for the first time some seventy municipal publications to the Biblio Digital platform, the tool used until now by the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona Provincial Council as an electronic loan service for the Public Reading System of Catalonia.
The measure aims to facilitate public access to free municipal digital publications, promote reading among municipal workers and offer a quality cultural resource.
The commitment is for this first bibliographical collection to be complemented with other institutional documents that can be found in the institutional repository BCNROC. The project was launched by the Department of Documentation and Access to Knowledge, part of the Manager’s Office for General Services, with the collaboration of the City Council’s Directorate for Publishing Services, Biblioteques de Barcelona and the Government of Catalonia’s Library Service.
The Biblio Digital platform allows for the electronic loan of hundred of digital works in different disciplines, guaranteeing the download, access and legal consultation of all these information resources. Besides text documents, users can also find content in various audiovisual formats, music albums and more in different languages.
Biblio Digital is a free service and to enjoy the system users need a public library membership card.
