Women’s professional cycling comes to the city in May with the start of the women’s edition of La Vuelta, an event that despite being relatively new, has already established itself as one of the most important dates in top-class women’s cycling. This is an opportunity to help create role models in women’s sport and strengthen the city’s role in cycling after hosting the start of the men’s edition of La Vuelta in 2023 and preparing to host the Gran Dépard for the Tour de France in 2026.

The team stage against the clock will show some of the city’s most iconic spots, with La Pedrera taking centre stage as the start and finish line will be here. The 8 km in this first stage will take the riders past the Palau de Pedralbes and while it poses no technical difficulties it will require maximum concentration as it will determine who wears the red shirt in the first two rounds of the event.

In all, the 2025 women’s edition of La Vuelta consists of seven stages with an overall distance of 748 kilometres from 4 to 10 May. The second stage of the race sets off from Molins de Rei and will end in Sant Boi de Llobregat.
