For nine months, starting in October, elderly people from Barcelona will have the chance to get back into museums thanks to the fifth edition of the “Museums Await” cycle. This initiative, which this year adds another five museums, is aimed at people from municipal elderly people’s centres and the VinclesBCN service. Nearly 1,000 people are expected to take part either in person or in virtual activities.

The initiative seeks to introduce and disseminate museums among elderly people in the city and surrounding areas, bringing them closer to these establishments. A total of 38 museums are taking part (19 in Barcelona and 19 outside of the city), with 20 activities planned (60 in Barcelona and 20 in other municipalities). The face-to-face activities in the cycle will have a reduced cost of between one and five euros, while online tours will be free of charge.

Each museum organises its own activity, for example workshops with old items, memory games and dialogues through works or collections, taking into account that all tours share the characteristic of being highly participatory and promoting conversation among those taking part.
