New bike lane to connect Sant Andreu and La Sagrera with Sant Martí and L’Eixample
Covering a distance of 1.7 kilometres, the new bike lane provides continuity for the one in Berenguer de Palou, between the streets of Josep Estivill and Ferran Turné. This two-way lane will connect the neighbourhoods of Sant Andreu and La Sagrera with Sant Martí and the grid plan in L’Eixample, thanks to the new bike lane in C/ Mallorca which is due to open in January.
The lane runs through the streets of Clot (between Espronceda and Felip II), Gran de la Sagrera (between Felip II and Josep Estivill), Berenger de Palou (between Ferran Turné and Pare Manyanet), Pare Manyanet (between Gran de Sant Andreu and Josep Soldevila), and Josep Soldevila (between Pare Manyanet and Rambla de l’Onze de Setembre).
In the section in C/ Clot, between the streets of Mallorca and Felip II, the lane runs through the central section and continues to do the same in Gran de la Sagrera. As from Berenguer de Palou it runs to the right of traffic circulation as far as C/ Portugal, then switching to the left-hand side and continuing in the streets of Pare Manyanet and Josep Soldevila. At this point, the lane connects with the bike lane in C/ Segre.
The project, involving an investment of 1.1 million euros, forms part of the municipal government’s policy of expanding the city’s cycling infrastructure. It is also one of a series of improvements by the District of Sant Andreu which started being implemented in the spring.
