Over 60,000 elements cleaned in public space

More than 60,000 elements in public space have been cleaned as part of the Pla Endreça. The cleaning and removal of stickers and posters from building façades, furniture, bollards, signposts and lampposts was carried out in the busiest neighbourhoods and around high-influx areas for tourism (EGA).

A team of 19 people bolstered the cleaning of stickers and posters from façades, drainpipes, signs and urban furniture from March to December as part of a Barcelona Activa project carried out under the Pla Endreça.

Carried out by a team of people with labour insertion difficulties, the work entailed the use of water, soap and scrapers. Before the cleaning procedure, civic officers carried out inspections to identify perpetrators and apply the corresponding fines.

The teams centred on the busiest areas and on high-influx areas for tourism (EGA), reaching all ten city districts. With an average work volume of 1,800 actions a week and a special concentration on cleaning drainpipes, the districts of L’Eixample, Ciutat Vella and Gràcia accounted for the most cleaning, coinciding with areas with the most events and requests received.

The cleaning and removal of posters and stickers is part of the work under the Pla Endreça, aimed at maintaining the excellence of public space.
