Proposals from municipal groups in the full council meeting of 25 November 2022

November’s full council meeting approved four proposals: one from the ERC to unify signage in traffic-calmed areas, one from BComú calling for extensions to rent contracts, one from the PSC to devote 25% of the budget to health and primary healthcare, and one from JxCat seeking to speed up work on the Mediterranean corridor. The proposals from Cs, the PP and Valents were rejected.

Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya called for the definition and implementation of a single urban code for signage in traffic-calmed areas and cycling lanes, helping to ensure road safety and do away with black spots for bicycles in the city etc. The proposal was approved with votes from the ERC, BComú, the PSC, JxCat, the PP, Valents and the independent councillor, with Cs abstaining.

Valents urged the municipal government to put a stop to new subsidies and contracts for certain associations and organisations. The proposal was rejected, with votes in favour from Cs, the PP, Valents and the independent councillor, while the ERC, BComú, the PSC and JxCat voted against it.

Proposals with content for an institutional declaration

The Full Council debated and voted on five proposals with content for an institutional declaration, put forward by BComú, PSC, J×Cat, Cs and the PP.

Barcelona en Comú sought to urge the Spanish government to take a special measure and extend rent contracts while there is no state law to contain incomes. The proposal was approved with favourable votes from the ERC, BComú and the PSC, while the PP, Valents and the independent councillor voted against it and JxCat and Cs abstained.

The Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya urged the Catalan government to allocate 25% of its budget to health and primary healthcare and to draft an infrastructures plan which includes the renewal, expansion and construction of health centres. The proposal was approved unanimously.

Junts per Catalunya asked to urge the Spanish government to speed up the construction of the Mediterranean corridor and get it into operation by 2026. The proposal was approved with favourable votes from all groups and the independent councillor.

Ciutadans called to reject a legal amendment which reduces sentences for the crime of embezzlement. The proposal was rejected with favourable votes from Cs, the PP, Valents and the independent councillor, while the ERC, BComú, the PSC and JxCat voted against it.

The Partit Popular sought to urge the Spanish government not to amend the criminal code to repeal the crime of sedition. The proposal was rejected with favourable votes from Cs, the PP, Valents and the independent councillor, while the ERC, BComú, the PSC and JxCat voted against it.
