24,640 posters and stickers removed from public spaces from March to July

As part of the Pla Endreça initiative, 24,640 items—mostly stickers and posters—were taken down from public spaces between March and July. A team of 19 people, recruited through an employment programme for those with difficulty finding work, stepped up cleaning efforts on façades, drainpipes, signs and street furniture from March to July and again from September to December.

The teams remove these pieces using soap, water and scrapers, focusing their efforts on busy pedestrian areas across the city’s neighbourhoods, as well as high-visitor areas (EGA). Before starting work, they inspect the routes to identify potential offenders and apply the corresponding fines.

So far, work has been carried out at various locations across the districts of Ciutat Vella, Sants-Montjuïc, L’Eixample, Horta-Guinardó, Sant Andreu and Sant Martí. Starting in September, the work will resume in Ciutat Vella, the coastal area, L’Eixample, Sant Martí and Horta-Guinardó. The main places the pieces were removed from were downpipes, vertical signs, street furniture and streetlights.

In addition, from May to October, cleaning and waste collection services across the entire city have also been stepped up, especially in areas busiest during the summer months. A total of 234 additional staff members and 99 extra teams have been brought in to support the regular crews.
