Barcelona Nautical School to be reorganised from the next academic year

The Escar building is to become part of the Barcelona Nautical School as from the 2023-2023 academic year. Work will be carried out to enlarge the building at the port over the next three years, so that from the 2026-2027 academic year the school can concentrate its activity there definitively, along with the El Far building, located in front of it.

The El Far building will be used for classrooms and administration, with the Escar building to gain the capacity needed through progressive extensions and host workshops.

Boats used for training students will be in dry dock at the Moll de Pescadors wharf, thanks to collaboration with the Barcelona Fishermen’s Brotherhood.

The Nautical School currently consists of three facilities: the El Far building, the Taller Drassanes building and the Nau building of the Barcelona Oceanic Navigation Foundation (FNOB). The latter will cease to be part of the school as from next year. This facility will be the home of the Italian team for the America’s Cup 2024, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team.

The total funding for the project is 4.5 million euros, to be provided by the City Council, the Ministry for Education, Port de Barcelona and Marina Barcelona 92.
