New online procedure to check images for traffic fines
Those interested can see the report and the images associated with the fine and/or print them and download them quickly and easily, free of charge. Until now, anybody wishing to view photos linked to a fine had to make a request to the fines department at the Municipal Tax Institute. Once requests were received, the image had to be found and resent with a notification, entailing and long and laborious process.
The current procedure allows users to obtain all the images relating to the report, using the CSV secure verification code that appears in the notification. All images for reported traffic circulation infringements can be found, whether they entail a deduction of points or not, relate to parking, speeding or a violation of the low emission zone, plus those generated through hand-held digital assistants used by the City Police. The only images that cannot currently be viewed are those from red-photo systems (traffic-light cameras), although these are expected to be available soon.
This free procedure allows users to view the images up to a year after the denouncement but does not paralyse or change the terms for appeals or paying fines.
The new procedure is part of the Pla Barcelona Fàcil, a new strategy aimed at simplifying administrative procedures, reducing the time needed to complete them and doing away with red tape. This municipal government measure contemplates 18 specific actions that must create a more modern, efficient and accessible administration, geared towards people’s needs.
