Final stage of work to stabilise embankments
Forty-six projects have been carried out between 2023 and 2025 to reinforce and improve walls and embankments in the mountain neighbourhoods, guaranteeing public safety and preventing landslides in episodes of rain. At present, 73% have been completed and those in progress should be finalised between November and December this year. Over 17.6 million euros has been invested in all, executed as part of the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan.
For this work to be carried out, within the framework of the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan, a thorough analysis was conducted in the different mountain neighbourhoods. Once the areas of work were defined, they were prepared so that the most suitable solution could then be applied, such as mesh strengthened with steel cabling over the ground, metal casing and walls. All projects are carried out with a vision of fitting in with the surroundings, preserving public space, greenery and reinforcing the vegetal structure to favour biodiversity.
Work is still ongoing at the Sot del Migdia esplanade, the Fossar de la Pedrera, the Camp de Tir, the tip at the Cementiri de Montjuïc in the district of Sants-Montjuïc, and C/ Lisboa, in the district of Horta-Guinardo.
The work in progress should be completed between October and December 2025.
