The Array (wave) series by Pablo Valbuena, an artist from Madrid who is now based in France, are an original commission by La Prairie for the Art Basel exhibition in Miami. An installation composed of a set of separate light points that, when switched on and watched as a group, generate a volume perceived in space.

Valbuena uses light to evoke an ocean wave driven by the wind, successfully representing the volume of a virtual wave by using a mathematical function and the actual components already present in that place: the sea, the sand and the wind.

The work is composed of 25 LED pillars arranged as a large grid, and the experiment changes depending on the observer’s position. From a distance it appears as a large sculpture but, when you go through it, it becomes an immersive environment.
